Hello friends family followers of my reviews Barry here again reviewing a fabulous place welcome to the athol hotel Aberdeen read on situated in the west end of Aberdeen sitscthe athol a beautiful building full of character and charm loads of parking it's stunning once inside as my friend and I did the other night straight away you feel a lovely homely vibe it was as ever bustling with people enjoying a meal and that's what we were here for so glad we did! Firstly the staff are absolutely wonderful Gordon the co owner and manager is a true gentleman what a nice person and his assistant manager lee cales was just as lovely we were shown to our beautifully adorned table and presented with menus now my mum and I have gone here for 30 years and it's always been consistently excellent as it was this time the menu is varied with a great selection vegetarians vegans all dietary needs are skillfully catered for starters we both opted for the prawn cocktail with fresh brown bread wonderful in a word juicy fresh prawns with the sweetest Marie rose sauce a fresh delicate side salad and the tastiest brown bread and a wedge of lemon fabulous a great start to our meal! For mains my friend opted for the slow cooked braised beef and I opted for the rib eye steak with wholetail scampi accompanied with salad veg and chunky chips Anna out waitress was so lovely the whole restaurant just had a lovely feeling it was so nice! The mains arrived wow the braised beef was unbelievable so soft and tender melt in the mouth expertly cooked delicious my steak was prime beef cooked to perfection bursting with flavour and the wholetail scampi just added to the sensation and the home cooked chips a delight cooking to the very highest standard what can I say! For dessert we both had ice cream lovely creamy soft iced cream with lovely wafers atop a perfect end to a sublime meal it was excellant ! As readers of my reviews know I don't do bad reviews if I eat somewhere and it's not great I just don't do the review but I'm so happy to tell you everything about the athol is five star the staff the decor the ambience and the food this is one of aberdeens restaurants and hotels a glorious place to relax and unwind if your in Aberdeen you must stop by you will not be disappointed I assure you best wishes Barry Allan x

Hi my name is Ryan and my mummy works at the hotel. Today my grandpa took us all in for lunch because it was his birthday and my mum has a day off. I loved my fish and chips. It was the best fish and chips ever and Wendy is the best because she made me sticky toffy pudding and I ate it all! I love Ana she is my favourite and she let me go to the kitchen to say thank you to the chefs for making my yummy food. My mummy and everyone do such a good job and I loved the atholl hotel. We stayed at 8 different hotels and guest houses during our last 2-week visit to Scotland. Unfortunately, this was our least favorite. We liked that there is plenty of onsite parking, restaurant, and bar. Check-in was quick; but the layout has you walking through the bar and restaurant to get to the check-in desk. Rather awkward for those walking through; and mildly distracting for those enjoying a drink or meal. The room itself was spacious and I liked the trouser press. However, signage in the room requests you keep the bathroom door closed when showering to prevent the fire alarm from going off. This turns the bathroom literally into a steam room. Everything; and I mean everything gets wet/damp, and stays that way. The hallways are very narrow and have a moldy smell. The bar downstairs is well stocked; but the bartenders are unable to mix a drink. I don't mean they lack the skills - but refuse. I love a good Scotch; but my wife occasionally prefers a mixed cocktail. Not possible here.

We met up with family who had travelled up from Edinburgh and Kinross and we chose the Atholl for lunch as it's always been the best of Aberdeen. I can confirm 100% that it still remains in that category after change of ownership. Great selection of traditional grub and every meal was first class as was service. Recommend highly to anyone.

Generally good country hotel vibe. Mediocre food, and really bad wifi. Car parking arrangements were generous. Our evening waitress was somewhat rude I thought. Overall good for a night if one has to stay, but wont visit for leisure

Took my darling wife for a meal to celebrate our 25th wedding about.Knew it would not let us down.Great friendly welcome,as requested I got a near window table,got the amazing menu,drinks order came in no time at all,after convient time to ponder what to eat a waitress came to ask our order.Didnt wait long for it to arrive ,and it was worth waiting for,as usual.Couldn't fault our visit on anything.
Will definitely be back.

This is absolutely my favourite hotel in Scotland. I have stayed many times whilst in Scotland attending The Highland show and The Scone country show. Usually there are a few day in between. This hotel is my first choice. Nearby there are lovely easy walks and so many interesting places. Most of the time I just relax here and do very little. Dog friendly and brilliant.

Nice hotel restaurant with an offering of Scottish comfort foods. We both ordered the Sunday Roast and it immediately came out. It’s a big draw here, dining room was full of customers so get reservations.
The roast was well done even tho we asked for med. rare. Potatoes, gravy and Yorkshire pudding were okay. We are still looking for the perfect Sunday roast!

We visited for dinner and very impressed with the service at this hotel. The Maître d was friendly and attentive, chatting with customers and the staff were efficient and well-trained. The food was delicious and good value for money.

I cannot rate this lovely hotel highly enough for the friendly, caring and efficient team. We were there due to a hospital emergency in Aberdeen, they were so helpful and did everything they could throughout to accommodate us during our stay. Housekeeping all to a high standard & a very lovely bar & restaurant. Thank you so much.
